GROWING RESILIENT LEARNERS
Welcome to the Friends of Badger Rock Middle School Fundraising Campaign!
Badger Rock Middle School needs your help! The Friends of Badger Rock is asking for contributions to our current fundraising campaign, Growing Resilient Learners, designed to support a program of activities for Badger Rock scholars, families, and staff during the academic year, after school, and Saturday school.
As a charter school in the Madison Metropolitan School District, Badger Rock Middle School (BRMS) has a mission to engage our scholars in a rigorous learning environment that honors student history, culture, and identity. Approximately 100 middle school scholars attend BRMS, around 70% of whom come from economically disadvantaged families, through our four core values - Place, Cultural Relevance, Sustainability & Resilience, and Inquiry & Design - BRMS endeavors to create generations of upstanding world citizens who excel at 21st century skills.
Your generosity will help us ensure innovative educational programming, such as:
URBAN AGRICULTURE AND FOOD JUSTICE EDUCATION
GOAL: ($7,400)
Our Urban Agriculture program is more than just gardening—it's a hands-on learning experience that empowers scholars to cultivate a healthier, more equitable neighborhood. Through immersive education, they learn how to grow their food, develop essential culinary skills, and tackle critical issues of food justice. By supporting this program, you're helping us create sustainable communities and giving our scholars the tools to build a brighter, greener future for everyone.
$300 enables two scholars to benefit from one year of urban agriculture programming.
Our Financial Wellness program is more than just a class; it's a real-world journey that teaches and inspires scholars to unlock their entrepreneurial potential. Through hands-on learning, they discover how to build their own businesses and become social entrepreneurs—using their gifts to create positive change in their communities. We equip them with essential skills in money management, budgeting, saving, and investing, empowering them to take control of their financial future and make a lasting impact.
$200 provides a scholar with a semester of financial wellness and social entrepreneurship education.
FINANCIAL LITERACY AND SOCIAL ENTREPRENEUR EDUCATION
GOAL: ($7,800)
INVEST IN SATURDAY SCHOOL SUCCESS!
GOAL: $5,000
We believe learning should extend beyond the school week. Our Saturday School Enrichment Program is the only one of its kind in the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD), and is offered two times a month; last year, it served nearly 200 scholars. What truly makes it special is that scholars choose to be here, finding a sense of belonging and camaraderie with their friends and teachers. It's a vibrant space where scholars can thrive. Scholars get dedicated, one-on-one or small group support from their teachers on school projects, spend quality time with friends, and gain valuable life skills. A unique highlight of the program is the opportunity for scholars to cook a meal in our state-of-the-art culinary lab—learning teamwork and nutrition in a fun, hands-on way.
Your support helps us keep this invaluable program running, ensuring every student has the chance to get the personalized attention they need to succeed.
$5,000 covers staffing needs for Saturday School and provides scholars with a healthy lunch.
